IT Telecommunications Office
Office design for IT Telecommunications company spanning over two floors in Muscat, Oman.
Network as a design concept was integrated for a two floor IT Telecommunications office space.
The concept ‘network’ was chosen primarily on the basic task telecommunication companies are meant to perform. Telecommunication companies deal with connecting people from various locations as it is up to them to ensure safe, fast, and clear connections for their clients to enable them to stay in the market and succeed.
The activity-based workplace of the 2-floor IT office space allows its employees to choose where to work depending on their workplace activity ranging from intense focused work to informal or formal meeting.
The design focused on creating an energy-harvested system where employers power their workstations by pedaling and walking. Movement was encouraged by adding a suspended staircase and an aluminum slide to make movement and connections between the two floors fun and exciting. Piezoelectric cells were used in floor systems so energy stored from movement in common areas are used to generate power in the office space.
Design program
The first floor consists the offices of telecallers, information officers, engineering analysts with alternative workstations, entertainment lounge, kitchenette and food bar, communication hub, informal and formal meeting areas, brainstorming room, prayer rooms, toilets, and atrium.
The second floor consists the offices of marketing and sales, communication specialists, HR & publicists, server analysts and server room, administration and finance, and manager and assistant, with conference room that can hold hologram meetings (as technologies evolve and become more widespread in future), meeting rooms, entertainment lounge, kitchenette, prayer rooms, washrooms, and an atrium.
Many considerations were considered while designing the space such as space efficiency, energy-saving materials, air quality, effective use of solar energy and minimize heat, use of recycled, reusable and low emission materials. Plywood with oak and walnut veneers, carpet tiles, tempered glass for partition walls, and concrete were the main materials used.
